With a solid performance that included going up against the #4 team in the nation, Thomas Robinson, a 6-9 junior from Kansas, has been selected StatSheet NCAA Player of the Week. StatSheet's NCAA Freshman of the Week is Northwestern's Dave Sobolewski and StatSheet's NCAA 6th Man of the Week is Memphis's Joe Jackson. Robinson put up a strong 22.5 points per game and 15 rebounds per game in a win against Oklahoma and a loss to Missouri.
Robinson had 20 points and 17 rebounds in 32 minutes in a big 84-62 win against Oklahoma. He then led the team in scoring (25) and rebounding (13) in a 74-71 loss to Missouri.
Thomas Robinson has been named StatSheet NCAA Player of the Week one other time this season. He has also finished second once. The runner-up this week is Ohio State sophomore Jared Sullinger. Honorable mention goes to senior John Shurna from Northwestern. The highest ranking player from Notre Dame was Eric Atkins who finished 4th.
StatSheet NCAA Freshman of the Week: Northwestern's Dave Sobolewski
Dave Sobolewski played an average of 39 minutes starting both games for the Wildcats. In an 84-74 victory against Nebraska, Sobolewski led rebounding with 6 while churning out 5 assists. Against Illinois, in a tight 74-70 win, he had 14 points and 2 assists.
This is the first StatSheet NCAA Freshman of the Week award for Sobolewski. The runner-up is our own Pat Connaughton. Honorable mention goes to Raheem Appleby from Louisiana Tech.
StatSheet NCAA 6th Man of the Week: Memphis's Joe Jackson
Sophomore Joe Jackson averaged 24 minutes over two games for the Tigers. In a 75-72 loss to Southern Miss, Jackson chalked up 3 assists and 66% shooting. Then while escaping Xavier, 72-68, he led all scoring with 14 points and added 8 assists.
This is the first time this season Jackson has won the StatSheet NCAA 6th Man of the Week award. Darnell Dodson, a senior guard from Southern Miss, is runner-up. Neil Watson, a sophomore guard from Southern Miss, wins honorable mention.
